What a remarkable man Grant was! I wish I had met him but I got to know him over the last hour, reading your pages about him. You were a gift to him and he was a gift to you. May you feel strength from Grant's strength and may you feel warm from his warmness and love from what was obviously a very loving young man.

12-29-2007 6:14 PM -- By: Brianna,  From: Wisconsin

I stumbled across this site earlier today and happened upon Grant's memorial. I feel compelled to leave a message, but I don't know what to leave. As I sit here with tears streaming down my face, it is obvious to me that whoever had the opportunity to know Grant was very fortunate indeed, and how wonderful for him to have such a beautiful family that cared so much for him. May his legacy live on forever, and I pray that we find a cure someday and that AIDS can be something that future generations never have to fear. God Bless You!

12-11-2007 2:11 PM -- By: Bryan Brake,  From: Licking, MO

I live in San Diego, CA now, but I knew him when I went to Licking Elementary. We also went to Bible School together.

A few year later, he gave a talk to our High School in Buffalo, MO. I went down and greeted him. He was a great guy, and I am sorry I only heard about what happened.

My thoughts go out to his family, and his friends. I will light a candle for him...

Grant will always live on in the hearts of many people. His spirit, his kind and gentleness I will always remember. Grant had the faith that he would be with Lord at the end of this world. His belief in Jesus allowed all of us believers know that as this time passes, we will one day see Grant again and rejoice. Even though Grant is missed on this earth, he is not forgotten. We miss you Grant!

06-21-2007 8:30 PM -- By: Debbie Oatman,  From: Colonie, New York

Dear Grant,

I've been thinking about you alot lately. I'm sure you know that Camp Heartland is opening a special camp in New York. The Rec. Center at the Camp was blessed with an Extreme Makeover. As soon as I saw it I could feel your presence. I told Neil that I knew that you were there. I so wish that you could have been there in body too. You would've been real proud. I hope that through the media attention that Camp recieved that we were able to reach out and educate those who lived with the myths and fears surrounding HIV/AIDS. I hope that we can carry on your work and make life easier for everyone living with this disease. You were such a great example of someone who "lived" life to the fullest with AIDS. Your mission here on Earth was a successful one.

I will never forget all of the fun we all had at NIH. We all became so much more than friends; we were family. We all just picked up where we left off. There's not alot of people who have that sort of bound. I am so grateful to have had it with you and thankful for all the good times.

Please know that you will be forever in my heart. Rest in Peace Sweetie. Love you, Debbie and DJ
